Conference “Come la disinformazione minaccia la democrazia. Il mercato delle verità?”

Professor Oreste Pollicino will join the seminar held by the Law School and the LL.M. in Law of Internet Technology of the Università Bocconi "Come la disinformazione minaccia la democrazia. Il mercato delle verità?”, during which the volume of Antonio Nicita, former commissioner of the Italian Telecoms, Media and Postal Regulatory Authority (AGCOM) and professor of economic policy at the Università LUMSA, will be presented. Professor Giusella Finocchiaro, Professor Marco Bassini, Pietro Sirena of the Università Bocconi, Gabriele Caparezza Figlia of the Università LUMSA, Dianora Poletti of the Università di Pisa, Giulio Enea Vigevani of the Università di Milano-Bicocca and Mariateresa Maggiolino and Michele Polo of the Università Bocconi will also join the event. The author will close the discussion.

During the presentation of the volume "Testo Unico dei Servizi di Media Audiovisivi e Radiofonici commentato e annotato per articolo. Con la Direttiva n. 2018/1808-SMAV”, the speakers, important representatives of the business world and the institutions, will discuss the risks and the opportunities linked to the transposition of the SMAV Directive and to the evolution of the legislative framework. Professor Oreste Pollicino will partecipate in the second part of the event, dedicated to the institutions’ point of view and chaired by Bruno Nascimbene, Professor Emeritus of Diritto dell’Unione europea at Università degli Studi di Milano.

Professor Pollicino will take part in the discussion on the international prospects, with a speech entitled "Soggetti privati e funzioni para-costituzionali: un paradosso dell'era dell’algoritmo”. Don Luca Peyron, legal expert and theologian, Professor of Theology at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and Stefano Leucci, legal and technological officer at the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) will also join the event.

The event, organized by Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, aims at discussing the most recent issues related to social network and freedom of speech, moving from Professor Marco Bassini’s volume "Internet e libertà di espressione. Prospettive costituzionali e sovranazionali”. The Internet Festival 2021 is a prestigious event organized by Fondazione Sistema Toscana and promoted by, inter alia, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Scuola Normale di Pisa and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.
