Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will take part as General Rapporteur in the World Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL) organised at the Centre for the Study of Law, Economics and Politics (Cedep) in Asunciòn, Paraguay. The Professor will give his report on “Freedom of speech and regulation of fake news” as part of the session on “Human Rights” which is chaired by Prof. Eric Heinze, Queen Mary University, London.
2nd Annual meeting of the European Cyberjustice Network (ECN)

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will deliver the keynote speech at the Second Annual Meeting of the European Cyberjustice Network (ECN) organised by the Council of Europe within the Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), in cooperation with the “Working Group on cyberjustice and Artificial Intelligence”. The Professor will focus his lecture on the topic ‘Judicial Protection of Fundamental Rights on the Internet’ and will address both the protection of fundamental rights on the Internet and the concrete possibilities of implementing technologies in the field of justice.
Blockchain, Metaverso, NFT e Proprietà Intellettuale – Conference

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will take part in the conference “Blockchain, Metaverse, NFT and Intellectual Property” organised by the University of Parma in cooperation with the Unione Parmense degli Industriali, the Chamber of Commerce of Parma, and the Collegio dei Consulenti. The Professor will give the introductory lecture on the topic “Protection of Fundamental Rights on the Internet: a critical overview”. The conference intends to address, with an interdisciplinary and comparative approach, some of the most topical issues concerning new technologies, of which Blockchain, Non Fungible Tokens and Metaverse represent a crucial test-bed.
Internet Law and Protection of Fundamental Rights
We are pleased to announce the publication of the volume “Internet Law and Protection of Fundamental Rights”, published by Egea, of which Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino is the author together with Avv. Marco Bassini and Dr. Giovanni De Gregorio. The volume offers an overview of the most important challenges posed by the rise of cyberspace from a legal point of view. It provides readers with the knowledge to understand the constitutional challenges created by digital technologies.
DML defends the ECB in the Malacalza Investimenti case
Prof. Oreste Pollicino defended the European Central Bank before the Court of Justice of the European Union in the dispute against Malacalza Investimenti. The judgment was published on 28 September 2022.
The Professor, together with Prof. Daniel Sarmiento, defended the ECB as external counsel, making DML the only Italian firm within the Bank’s defence team.
Course “DPO- Data Protection Officer” – Prof. Pollicino

Registration period is now open for the course ‘DPO - Data Protection Officer’ of which Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino is director, together with Prof. Paola Cillo.
The course takes place over three days and is organised within the School of Management (SDA) Bocconi. It is dedicated to professionals with at least ten years of experience from the legal area, the world of data protection consulting and cybersecurity.
The program is open to those who wish to deepen their understanding of the role that the legislation entrusts to this figure within the companies in which they operate.

Oreste Pollicino will participate in the Conference entitled “The Individual and the Digital Reality: a Constitutional and Democratic Issue beyond Virtuality”, organised by the University of Brescia, with the contribution of Banca Valsabbina and Fondazione ASM. The Professor will give a speech on “Metaphors and the Protection of Fundamental Rights in the Digital Age” during the panel on “The Person in the Process of Technological Transformation”, moderated by Prof. Michela Manetti, University of Siena, which will also be joined by Prof. Licia Califano, University of Urbino, and Prof. Carlo Colapietro, University of Roma Tre.
Protezione dei diritti fondamentali e Internet – Webinar

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollcino will join the Webinar “Protection of Fundamental Rights and the Internet” organised by the Internet Festival 2022. During the event, hosted by Dr. Massimo Sideri, journalist at Corriere della Sera, the Professor’s volume, “Judicial Protection of Fundamental Rights on the Internet: A Road Towards Digital Constitutionalism?”, published by Hart, will be presented. There will be a discussion on the relationship between new technologies and the protection of fundamental rights, with a focus on judicial dialogue.
