Legal Studies Award
Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino has been conferred the Legal Studies Award by Università Commerciale L. Bocconi for his monograph “Judicial Protection of Fundamental Rights on the Internet. A Road Towards Digital Constitutionalism?”, published by Hart Publishing. The purpose of the award is to give visibility and recognition to individual research products having characteristics of absolute and recognized excellence.
Webinar “Codice contro la disinformazione”

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will speak at the event dedicated to the presentation of the “Code against disinformation” organized by the Associazione Stampa Romana. The Professor, who coordinated the writing of the code and the negotiations with the signatories, will debate with Arturo Di Cortinto, columnist for Repubblica and Il Manifesto, lecturer at the Sapienza University of Rome, Prof. Michela Manetti, lecturer at the University of Rome 3, Giuseppe Mennella, secretary of Ossigeno per l’informazione, Maurizio Molinari, editor of Repubblica, Lazzaro Pappagallo, secretary of Stampa Romana, and Arcangelo Iannace, head of external relations at Fieg. The event will be streamed live on Stampa Romana’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
Workshop “Fairness in Artificial Intelligence”

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will participate in the Workshop "Fairness in Artificial Intelligence," organized by Prof. Luca Trevisan of Bocconi University. The professor will open the day’s session and deliver a presentation entitled “Algorithmic bias and legal perspectives. The constellation of rights taken seriously” in which he will examine the main challenges and reactions of the legal world to automated decisions and their biases.

Oreste Pollicino will take part in the Seminar “Piattaforme digitali e libertà di manifestazione del pensiero” organized as part of the study and research activities of the Digital Ecosystem Laboratory (Astrid-LED). The speeches will be introduced by Prof. Avv. Ugo Ruffolo, University of Bologna, and Prof. Antonio Nicita, Member of the Regulatory Scrutiny Board of the European Commission, former AGCOM Commissioner.
Presentation of the “Code of Practice on Disinformation”
Today took place the presentation of the ‘Code of Practice on Disinformation’, the elaboration of which was coordinated by Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino, co-founder and Partner of the law firm, as honest broker. Professor Pollicino delivered the Code to the European Commission Vice President, Věra Jourová, and to the Single Market Commissioner, Thierry Breton, on behalf of the 34 signatories. The Code represents the first co-regulatory tool on disinformation and brings together various industry players who have voluntarily signed up for the proposed measures to counter disinformation.

The Professor will be discussant in the presentations by Prof. Tania Sourdin, University of New Castle, Australia, and by Prof. Adj. Edoardo Celeste, Dublin City University.

EDMO 2022 Annual Conference
13-14 June 2022
Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will take part in the Annual Conference organized by the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO).
The Professor will join the panel on the second day of the event that will be moderated by Dr. Paola Gori LL.M., Coordinator for Communication and Media at the European University Institute, and Secretary General at EDMO.
The panel will examine the new Code of Practice on Disinformation, to the writing of which the Professor contributed.

Prof. Avv. Oreste Pollicino will take part in the Conference “Il public enforcement del copyright nell’era digitale” organized by Luiss School of Law as part of the Master in Competition and Innovation Law and in collaboration with ADEC Association of Law and Economics of Communications and Digital Media.
The panel will be chaired by Prof. Avv. Gustavo Olivieri, Director of the Master in Competition and Innovation Law, Luiss School of Law and ADEC President, and, in addition to the Professor, Massimiliano Capitanio, Agcom Commissioner, Avv. Francesco Posteraro, former Agcom Commissioner, and Augusto Preta, President of the Italian Chapter of the International Institute of Communications and ADEC, will speak.
